Andy Jackson

Another Soutar Writer

I’ve been fortunate enough to be asked to read at StAnza 2012, Scotland’s foremost annual poetry festival. I’ll be reading with Pippa Little at the Undercroft of St John’s House on South Street at 2.15pm on Saturday 17th March, and then on Sunday 18th March I’ll be hosting the launch of Split Screen at the Byre Theatre, an anthology of poetry inspired by film & television, containing poems from the likes of Ian MacMillan, WN Herbert and Annie Freud. Hopefully you’ll be able to see a stellar line-up of poets including Simon Barraclough, Helen Ivory, Martin Figura, AB Jackson, Jo Bell and many others. Tickets for both events are just £3.00 (£2.00 concessions).

I’ve added links to some of my poems that are available online, plus a note of my publications. I’ve also linked to some animated versions of my poems created using the Prezi software.  Click on the tabs above to see any of these. More updates and additions to follow!

Hello world – welcome to my little corner of the Soutar Writers website. You’ll find a modest collection of information about me and maybe even one or two poems.

I’m originally from Manchester but moved to Fife in 1992. I started writing poetry as a serious concern in 2003, and my first collection ‘The Assassination Museum’ was published in March 2010 by Red Squirrel Press.

My poems have been published in a variety of magazines and publications, including Magma, Poetry News, Poetry Scotland, Northwords Now, New Writing Scotland, New Writing Dundee, Riverrun, Eric and others. I have also had several poems selected by the National Galleries of Scotland as part of their ‘Inspired? Get Writing!’ competition. I have a poem appearing in the anthology arising from the national ‘Bugged’ project, and Shetland Council selected a poem for their ‘Bards In The Bog’ project 2010.

I should also say that I’m not AB Jackson, the Glasgow-based prize-winning poet. And he’s not me either.
