Strangers in Skye

skye landscape

Stuck as the limpets to their rocky pools
So are the houses in this peaty moor,
Clear as sea water changed with each sure tide
So is the air around this turning sphere,
Blue as the sea, white as the flying spray
So is the sky above our eager heads.

Still is the waiting underwater life,
Only the aqua-heather almost flows,
Still is the patient purple-hearted earth
Only we move watched by the hidden eyes,
All else seems held in crystal quietness,
This living world, pulses down-drawn
Waits for the stranger on this Isle to pass.

Holiday Acquaintance

frau trout

‘I`d love to escape from Frau Trout’
The smartly dressed man said to me,
‘But she`s always just always about
In the lounge , at the bar, by the sea.’

The smartly dressed man said to me,
‘She`s really a bit of a bitch
In the lounge, at the bar, by the sea
She`s old but fantastically rich.

She`s really a bit of a bitch
With her charm of young toy boys and me
She`s old but fantastically rich
Wants her always with us on the spree.

To her charm of young toy boys and me
She gives money to play the casino
Wants us always with her on the spree
Takes all the winnings – the Meano!

Gives us money to play the casino
And is always just always about
Takes all the winnings – the Meano
How I`d love to escape from Frau Trout.’
